We strive to support the Appomattox County agencies, in assuring that all citizens – regardless of race, color, religion, sex, physical characteristics, or national origin – have the right and opportunity to a better life. We provide assistance to our communities in emergency situations, including but not limited to fire, flood, and natural disasters. We initiate and/or participate in community oriented projects and educational training designed to enhance the well-being of the citizens of the county. We support our community members in need through food, clothing and other donation drives.

Our Goals

The Appomattox Community & Disaster Relief organization is is a civic organization dedicated to the betterment of Appomattox County and its citizens, as well as being equipped and prepared to provide assistance to local agencies and citizens in the event of a natural disaster, search and rescue, or any other important event which may occur. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization – our IRS determination letter can be requested through our Contact Page. Our Federal EIN is 87-2805277.

We strive to present ourselves to the citizens of this region as a well-trained, well-equipped, and knowledgeable organization consisting of ordinary citizens from our community providing assistance as needed or requested. We do this by educating our members and the public in life-saving measures, as well as preparedness methods for any natural disasters, or other circumstance. We inform our members and our community of local, national, and global events which would imperil their safety and that of our community.

We encourage our members and our community to volunteer to provide multi-faceted assistance and response to any emergency situation and to establish a cohesive organizational structure able to instruct and respond as needs arise. We train our membership in many disciplines necessary to the function of the organization as a whole, and as members individually.

Most importantly, we seek the protection, wisdom, and the leadership of our Creator and submit to Him to do His will in protecting the lives and livelihood of all citizens in our community.
